HELLENIC PARLIAMENT

A Grant was given to Lighthouse for the Blind for the purchase of a Braille printer and printing support materials for visually impaired visitors.

HELLENIC MINISTRY OF HEALTH & SOCIAL WELFARE

A grant was given to Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece the period 2002-2003, for the restoration of the Musuem’s building after the 1999 earthquake.

HELLENIC MINISTRY OF CULTURE

The General Secretariat of the Olympic Games with the General Secretary, Mr. K. Kartalis, enriched the Museum's collection with the donation of 10 copies of the athletics thematographia. In addition, the ministry donated a copy of Hermes of Praxiteles status and contributed to the creation of the Olympic Games Room.

THE PREFECTURE OF ATTICA

The Self-Administration Prefecture of Attica supports in every way the efforts of the Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece and the Tactual Museum.

BANK OF GREECE

Contributed the stair - elevator for individuals with mobility problems, to ensure safe access to the second floor of the museum.

The National Bank of Greece

From 2008 The National Bank of Greece supports:

Α.- The Braille printing Centre, with the subsidy of an employee for the translation of Academic Books into Braille. The students are from the following Faculties: The Faculty of Law from The Univercity of Athens, English Literature, Panteion Unvercity , Philosophy (Phychology department etc.)

Β.- The Studio and the Leasing Library for Audio Books with a Computer Technician for creating digital book. The digitization of the audio books requires daily an expert on production flow.

Also in 2009 the expenses for buying special Braille paper for the printing of Academic Books, Byzantine musical books, Literary books and the 4 Monthly magazines, which are published for our blind subscribers, were covered by the National Bank of Greece.

Stavros Niarchos Foundation

With its precious donation :

Α.-2006 The Braille Printing Center of the Lighthouse for the Blind was enriched with the modern printer BRAILLO 440SW, incorporating with a cutting instrument for 2 and 4 pages forms.

B.- 2007 The Lighthouse’s recording Studios were renovated. This renovation gave the possibility to the Audio Books Library to digitalize all the books from cassettes to CD.

C.- 2011 The Braille Printing Center of the Lighthouse published all 4 monthly magazines for the visually impaired subscribers of the Braille Library.

FRIENDS OF THE ACROPOLIS

The organization "The Friends of the Acropolis" with significant donations, such as the model of the holy rock of Acropoleos 5th century BC, and their continuing technical support have contributed resolutely in the harmonious operation of the Museum.

AMERICAN FRIENDS OF THE BLIND IN GREECE, [AFBG], Mass, USA

Sponsorship for the restoration of the building after the earthquake of 1999. The organization has been supporting the Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece since 1946.

GEORGE AND MARIA VERGOTIS FOUNDATION

Contributed the Training and Rehabilitation Centre of visually-impaired individuals, as well as the Boarding House of the Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece
