Objective
Social services welcomes individuals with sight problems and provides advisory and psychological support for them. It eases their
access to Health, Welfare and Education services, informs them about the special regulations of the
government that concern them, and helps them with the expedition of bureaucratic affairs (issuance of certifications, certificates, etc).
Also it organizes training and recreational activities such as going to theatrical presentations, excursions etc.
The Social Service functions as a link between the visually-impaired individual and the social environment and intervenes
at the personal and family level.
The activities of department are coordinated by the social worker Ms. Georgia Mila, and the visitor of Health Ms. Callie Lambropoulou.

Services for individuals who have recently become blind
Includes support for individuals who have recently become blind.
Services for the Elderly
Includes telephone contact to single and elderly visually-impaired individuals in order to anticipate and meet their needs.
Practical exercise of Social Workers Students
Students majoring in Social Work at TEI can do their six-month practical exercise at the Lighthouse for the Blind facilities in Greece. The students are given the opportunity to learn about the specific needs of visually impaired and cooperate with the social services dept.
