Who we are

Lighthouse's logo The Lighthouse for the Blindof Greece is an association specifically , non-profit, subsidised and overseen by the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

Founded in 1946, their aim being to support blind individuals, reduce the consequences from the loss of sight and to raise awareness of the public and the State about the problems that they face.

What we do

In the space of about 1 acre, with building facilities that exceed 2600 square metres, we have created infrastructures and services that can meet the total needs of visually-impaired individuals to help them live a dignified, independent and activity-rich life .


For over 60 years the activities of the Lighthouse, in the areas of information, education and employment of visually-impaired individuals, have made us the main point of reference in the sector of Blindness . In this way we have helped contribute to the understanding of what difficulties blind individuals face everyday.

  • Lending Library with Braille and Audio books
  • Braille Printing Center
  • Audio Books recording studio
  • Metal Works Unit
  • Brushes - Brooms Workshop
  • Ceramics Workshop
  • Gymnasium and workout areas
  • Tactual Museum with exhibitions from all periods of cultural civilization
  • Event hall and Theatre
  • Training and Rehabilitation Center for the visually-impaired
  • Hostel

The Lighthouse for the Blind, as a non-profit organization, depends on your contributions for the continuation of its work. Our aim is to make known the activities and the programs of Lighthouse, as well as the products that blind individuals produce in our workshops.
